I had made that difficult decision to go ahead and have the tattoo I had talked about for years. But the words “Made in Japan” would not be enough. If I was really going to do this, I had to do it right. I thought about my life and some of the things that I have done over the past 50+ years.
About six years ago I was pondering life and the status of mine. I was in a stable relationship, we had a nice house in South Florida and we were doing OK financially. The only thing that was missing for me was some one that would still care about me when I got older.
My biological clock was ticking but in a different way. I found myself thinking about becoming a mother which was not anything that I ever thought about in my younger days. (Except for about a week back in the late 70′s)
There was talk about children all around me. A co-worker of mine had tried to get pregnant with an infertility specialist and wound up adopting a 6 month old baby boy from Russia, A couple of years later, she was involved in a hosting program where she was able to have this cute little Russian girl spend the holidays here in the states with them. It was sort of a test before she could adopt her. It was a tough test and in the end, everyone won.
At the same time a close family relative was also going to be adopting a child. I suppose that all of the “baby talk” got me thinking. I can do this too. I turned to my partner and asked “Do you want to do this?” The answer was an unequivocal yes and I put in my order the next day for a 3-5 year old girl with the adoption agency that my co-worker was using.
Seven and one-half months later, our family of 4 (we wound up adopting sisters) stood on American soil as citizens of the United States. Adopting my daughters was of the things that I am most proud of. They are now 10 and 12 and turning out to be beautiful young ladies.
I still needed to add something to m
y tattoo. When I thought about my life and this tattoo, I decided to put the Japanese symbol for mother next to MADE IN JAPAN. These were 2 things that I never thought that I would do. First, get a tattoo, and second, become a mother.
I will never regret either.

I like your writing style thanks for the info -cheers-
I have always thought that after you finally make up your mind to get a tattoo, the most important and hardest decision to make are what tattoo design to get and where on your body you should get it at. However, it is paramount to stay away from tattoo trends.
This is because there is a very high likelihood that your tattoo design that was once popular will not look so great a few years down the lane. After all trends or fads fade out of style all the time. The best piece of advice is just to simply stay away from tattoo trends, unless it is something that you truly want and can live with forever.
